Hyperloop One Selects Texas Triangle

This week Hyperloop One announced 10 finalists from a pool of over 2,000 submissions to be considered feasible for a Hyperloop route. Texas was on of these 10. The route spans from Laredo to San Antonio, to Houston, to Dallas, covering over 640 miles. Estimated travel times are Laredo-San Antonio (16 minutes), Houston to San Antonio (21 minutes), San Antonio to Austin (8 minutes), Austin to DFW (19 minutes). Although you won’t be seeing shovels in the ground any time soon, this does mark a critical step forward for both Hyperloop and the regions transportation future.

According to Tech Crunch, “next steps for each of these winning teams will be a validation process conducted with Hyperloop One to do some in-depth analysis on each route, establishing things like ridership forecast and building a fully fleshed out business case for each. Hyperloop One will be hosting workshops in each of the above countries to help with this process, and to meet with stakeholders and help establish necessary partnerships.” Reports indicate Hyperloop hopes to have 3 routes operational by 2021 .
