SAEDF Moving to Weston Centre This Summer

The San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF) announced on June 5 its headquarters was being relocated to Weston Centre as part of a larger effort towards increased transformation and growth. The private, nonprofit group that guides development and diversification of the local economy is moving its headquarters from 602 E. Commerce St., to 4,869 square feet on the 26th floor of Weston Centre. Having opened in 1989, the Weston Centre on the Riverwalk has been the city’s tallest office building, standing 32 floors and drawing a variety of corporate tenants, such as financial service institution BBVA Compass and defense contractor Booz Allen Hamilton. The office tower has onsite cafes such as Page Barthau’s and has local CommonWealth Coffeehouse and Bakery, on the way.

“As our city continues to grow and transform, SAEDF has evolved alongside San Antonio to further drive our community’s economic strength,” said SAEDF Chairman Wayne Peacock in a press release. “Moving the SAEDF headquarters continues this journey and supports our efforts to position San Antonio as a global competitor.” In 2016, SAEDF experienced significant change, including leadership transition and integration of SA Works, a workforce development program, into the organization. This compelled SAEDF to search for a new headquarters that would both accommodate the organization’s growth, and support efforts to showcase San Antonio as an ideal location for investment and corporate leadership.

“Our headquarters move is a reflection of the new direction of our organization and the evolution of our community’s economic development strategy,” said SAEDF President/CEO Jenna Saucedo-

Herrera said in the release. “By moving into Weston Centre, we’re positioning ourselves to sell San Antonio and our business community from the center of it all.” SAEDF officials said their group is uniquely positioned to promote long-term economic development by facilitating and promoting collaboration between government and innovative companies across a large range of industries. SAEDF officials also said they are focused on domestic and international business recruitment, local business retention and expansion, entrepreneurial development, and strategic workforce development through SA Works. “SAEDF’s focus to grow and develop our city’s business community closely aligns with our vision for Weston Centre,” said Mona Ghawi, president of Weston Properties, in the release. “We look forward to watching our city, and tenants, grow and prosper.”

The economic development foundation is set move to Weston Centre this August.
