The year is rolling by and graduation season is almost upon us. One of the big questions for college bound students is: “to dorm or not to dorm?” San Antonio college students are finding more housing options outside of the traditional on campus dorm. Phase I of the Tobin Lofts at San Antonio College, which opened Fall of 2013, is one of those options.
Located off at 1415 N. Main Street, right next to San Antonio College (SAC), the student housing is not exclusive to SAC students. Currently, students from many of San Antonio’s universities and colleges are choosing Tobin Lofts. Part of what sets the Tobin Lofts apart is that the amenities available cater very well to students no matter what college they choose to attend. Amenities include full size washer/dryer in every unit, fully-equipped kitchens, high-speed internet, resort-style pool, café, 24-hour on call-maintenance and a parking garage. Rico Aviles, Leasing & Marketing Manager at Tobin Lofts at San Antonio College, adds, “every detail was designed with the modern college student in mind and accommodates academic, social and environmental lifestyles.” Unit options include furnished and unfurnished as well as one bedroom and 4 bedroom spaces. Additionally, if you happen to be a SAC student you could even use your financial aid to help pay for your housing.
There are restaurants, grocery stores, bookshops, bike shops, and nightlife nearby. San Antonio College is within walking distance and “with easy access to energetic hotspots such as the Pearl District and the San Antonio River, you also won’t be able to find such a prime location anywhere else” said Aviles.
Phase II, currently under construction, is being marketed to young professionals, graduate students and Alamo Colleges Faculty. Units range from efficiencies to two bedrooms. Phase II is a separate building, in order to offer a buffer between the college and professional residents.
The project is the result of a public private partnership between Alamo Community Colleges and The NRP Group, who is developing the site, and a $30 million investment in center city resident space. Once complete, 6.3 acre site will have 14,000 square feet of retail space, 225 units, and a 1,000 space parking garage.
