As more major downtown enhancing projects are under construction and in development, there has been a quiet surge of smaller infill projects, specifically, townhomes. Broadway and Southtown are filling up with large mixed use, for rent, residential space whose residents have helped to build and sustain new restaurant, nightlife, and cultural events and venue. These amenities and neighborhood development have triggered a wave of for-purchase residential townhomes throughout San Antonio’s urban core.
Casa Blanca Lofts just recently completed construction. Located one block east of Broadway on Casa Blanca, these units are in the heart of Broadways redevelopment. East Quincy Townhomes recently broke ground at the corner of East Quincy and Newell, across the street from The Pearl. There are 25, 3 story units ranging from 913 to over 2,000sf.
Terramark Urban Homes has several townhome sites proposed and under construction in several of San Antonio’s downtown neighborhoods. Cherry Street Modern is under construction with several units already sold in Dignowity Hill. This project represents a significant investment in the area following the Alamo Brewery project. Ogden Modern recently finished construction of 11 units in Tobin Hill and Westfort Villas is proposed to be 23 units in the Westfort neighborhood, along Broadway north of The Pearl, near the Buttercrust Bakery Building.
For those that don’t want to rent, but want to live in and around downtown in new construction, these type of residential developments are another option. As interest in living in San Antonio’s urban core increases, the demand for a variety of residential options will continue to grow.
