VIA’s Westside Multimodal Center is under construction. The structural canopy in the plaza is in progress. Irrigation and utilities have been installed. New street lighting on the adjacent blocks and drainage improvements are also underway. When complete, the center will have 120 parking spaces, waiting area, ticket vending, bike racks, real time bus arrival information, and will accommodate over 500 express service trips into downtown. The multimodal center is still on schedule to open late 2015.
The transit center will be a VIA Primo stop, location for downtown bus transfers, and will ultimately connect with the LoneStar Rail. The center was also initially intended to connect with the streetcar system.
VIA Primo BRT (bus rapid transit) connects UTSA 1604, the medical center, and downtown with a limited stop service. VIA Primo has designated stops with flush loading platforms, real time arrival times, and a transit center in the medical center.
